According to scientific evidence, physical exercise is beneficial for people with cancer. Exercise can improve quality of life, reduce fatigue, improve cardiovascular and muscle function, and reduce the risk of cancer recurrence. Also, exercise can help reduce stress and anxiety associated with cancer treatment. Similarly, physical activity has a positive influence on mental health, and reduces the side effects of cancer treatment and mortality in cancer patients.
In 2020, 19.3 million new cases of cancer were detected and almost 10 million cancer deaths were recorded. Cancer patients may experience fatigue, depression, anxiety, reduced quality of life, and sleep problems

José Antonio Pérez-Turpin is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of the PAEC Journal and a leading academic voice in sport science and oncology-related physical activity. He is Full Professor of Physical Education and Sport Sciences at the University of Alicante, holds a PhD in Sport Sciences, and serves as President of the Spanish Association for Sport Performance Analysis. He is also Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Human Sport and Exercise. Through his research, he has advanced concepts such as “precise physical training” in oncology, translating high-performance sport science into structured, individualised exercise approaches for cancer patients.
The objective of the publication is
- to present all the advances that physical activity represents in cancer prevention, and in cancer patients and cancer survivors, so that we can be a meeting point for health professionals and physical exercise professionals.
- to promote, improve, and disseminate research, good practices and innovation in all aspects related to physical activity, exercise, and cancer.
- to promote greater understanding, links and collaboration between innovation, research and all the agents that work to alleviate cancer from physical exercise and physical activity.

In addition, Hannah Pfeifle has published an article on the effects of our 4×4 Training. It shows how essential physical activity is before, during and after cancer therapy and emphasises the importance of doing sports together in nature.
These articles combine our practical experience with evidence-based approaches to promoting exercise among people with cancer. The focus is on integrating physical activity into therapy and aftercare, as well as taking a holistic view of health.
