Outdoor Against Cancer: move yourself, go out and live
OAC: my goal
Physical activity holds significant benefits for cancer patients, not only aiding in prevention but also enhancing therapy outcomes and overall quality of life. Unlike other initiatives that may focus on broader health promotion or different target groups, OAC: my goal is specifically designed to address the unique needs of cancer patients and survivors. This project emphasises outdoor activities, recognising the additional mental and physical health benefits of being in nature. By facilitating access to sports and outdoor events, OAC: my goal helps cancer patients and survivors overcome barriers to participation, fostering a supportive community and promoting a healthy, active lifestyle.
The project aims to:
- Increase access to and participation in outdoor sports for cancer patients and survivors.
- Generate evidence-based knowledge on the benefits of physical activity for cancer patients, focusing on outdoor sports.
- Disseminate knowledge to encourage cancer patients to overcome barriers and engage in outdoor activities.
- Develop an online catalogue with specific training tools for organising outdoor activities for cancer patients.
- Create a European community and network for cancer patients to promote outdoor sports and physical activity.
